Tanner is very shy and unsure in new situations. She definitely retreats to her safety which is his kennel or to her puppy brother for support. If she does not have access to either one of those things she shakes uncontrollably. This poor little guy is so unsure of everything around him that makes me wonder how much she really got out of his pen. Tanner would definitely benefit from a home that will expose her at a young age to a bunch of different sights, sounds, and smells. Until then foster Mama's doing lots of exposure trying to get her more comfortable and different elements. Trying to build Tanner's confidence so that we could see more of her true puppy behavior that I know is in there. Of course Tanner is all puppy and she will need a home that is understanding that she will need help potty training, kennel training, and everything in between to help her become the best guy he can be! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
