Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (medium coat). Meet Lilo! She is an 8-year-old, spayed female, Australian Cattle dog weighing around 58 lbs. Lilo was in a loving home, but her person got sick. She has never had to share and didnât have any interaction with dogs before coming to the shelter, so Lilo resource guards her things and attention from other dogs in the home. She went to a home for a few days and didnât want to share her momâs attention with her dad either. Lilo is friendly and affectionate but will need a strong handler that will be in control and keep her from causing trouble if she lives with more than one person. Her breed is a high energy working dog who will need stimulation to be the best girl. Lilo will be a loyal and wonderful companion!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
