Description

Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (short coat). Adoption Fee: $250. Hi, I’m Duttin! I’m a 4-year-old yellow Lab with a big heart and a happy tail. I’m a very happy guy, and I love people! I’ve never really met a stranger who I haven’t loved saying hi to. I love greeting people with my gentle enthusiasm. My favorite things? Walks around the neighborhood, a good game of fetch, and just being close to my people. Honestly, I’m happiest whenever I’m by your side. I get really happy when you come home or when we are playing ball, so I would do best in a family with older kids. My foster parents always say I don’t know how big I am. I think I’m a great lap dog! Who doesn’t love a 60lb cuddle buddy! I get along well with most other dogs, especially ones who enjoy a friendly, easygoing hang like I do. I'm fully house trained and I behave well in the house. My foster parents have been working with me on impulse control and my anxieties, and I’ve made tons of improvements! I’m smart, loyal, and pretty charming if I do say so myself. Wherever I go, I like to bring a little extra warmth and joy along with me. I can’t wait to meet you! Apply here bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication to meet me!

Overview:

The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
