Dog Breed: Poodle (Standard) / Mixed. It’s honestly heartbreaking a dog can be left in such horrible condition. But now Ruby’s past is far behind her. She didn’t just get a haircut, she got a whole new life. Swipe to the first photos. Yes, that’s Ruby. Lying there as the shelter team gently shaved away pounds of painful matting, giving her relief one careful clip at a time. And then look at her now. Safe, finally able to exhale in her foster home. Ruby is a 2.5 year old, approximately 37 pound Poodle who is spayed, fully vetted, and gaining healthy weight. What we have learned so far is that she is sweet, gentle, and incredibly calm. In her foster home, Ruby has shown just how special she is. She walks beautifully on leash with the cutest little trot, is both house and crate trained, and really thrives with a steady routine. She is affectionate in the softest way, always ready for belly rubs, and happiest simply relaxing near her people. She is still building confidence with new people and environments and getting used to loud or sudden noises. She may jump up to say hello when she is excited and will need slow, positive introductions with other dogs. Ruby does not ask for much. She loves peaceful walks, cozy naps, and being close to someone who cares for her. She may be a little unsure at first, but once she feels safe, she leans in for affection like she has been waiting for it her whole life. Her curls are starting to grow back, her body is getting stronger, and her glow up is going to be incredible. But the best part is not how she looks. It is how different her life is now. No more discomfort. No more being overlooked. Just safety, love, and a fresh start. Ruby would do best in a calm, patient home that will give her the time she needs to open up and finally experience the kind of love she has always deserved.
