Description
Dog Breed: Cocker Spaniel (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 350. Welcome to Cocker Nation Rescue of Michigan! Don't forget to visit our channel at Youtube Meet Tequila, a resilient, sweet spirited pup who’s just shy of one and a half years old. He came from a local shelter underweight, with raw, tender paws from being caked in his own urine and stool matter. Now, he’s just beginning to learn how to be a puppy again and while it requires patience and training, we continue to work with him daily. Tequila is great with other dogs and children, making him a perfect addition to a family. We think he would be happiest in a home with one or both of these. His spirit is shining brighter every day he loves his walks, playful adventures, and snuggles after a long day. He’s ready for a patient, loving family who will help him grow and thrive. He does best outside a crate however is the perfect gentleman when left out. Compared to a crate he has a lot of anxiety. He can be a little fearful of men at first but once he warms up he is your best friend. Could you be the one to give Tequila his fresh start?

Overview:
The Cocker Spaniel, a beloved breed with roots in the United Kingdom, was originally bred as a gundog to flush out woodcock. They are instantly recognizable by their medium size, typically weighing 20-30 pounds, their luxurious, often wavy coat (which comes in a variety of colors), and their long, expressive ears that frame their gentle, eager-to-please eyes. Known for their merry and affectionate temperament, Cockers are generally good-natured, intelligent, and relatively easy to train, making them an excellent choice for families with children and even first-time dog owners. While adaptable, their moderate exercise needs can be met with daily walks and playtime, making them suitable for apartment living as long as they receive sufficient mental and physical stimulation. Prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including ear infections (due to their long ears), eye conditions like cataracts, and hip dysplasia, which highlight the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
