Breed overview
Overview:
The Doxiepoo (Miniature), a cross between the Dachshund and Miniature Poodle, emerged in the late 20th century as a designer hybrid aimed at combining a low-shedding coat with a lively, affectionate temperament. Their appearance varies widely: some inherit a long body and short legs, others a more square build with wavy or curly fur in diverse colors. Typically small, they suit apartment living and thrive with families who offer gentle training, early socialization, and daily mental stimulation. Playful and people-oriented, they respond well to positive reinforcement but may show a touch of stubbornness. Grooming needs range from routine brushing to professional trims, depending on coat type. Notable health considerations include a risk of intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) from the Dachshund side, so minimizing jumping and maintaining a healthy weight is recommended.
