Description
Dog Breed: Plott Hound (medium coat). Dallas is a sweet, resilient boy who has been through a lot and is ready to find a calm, comfortable home to call his own. Despite his rough start, he has remained incredibly friendly, affectionate, and easy to be around. He enjoys human companionship and has a gentle, loving nature that makes him a wonderful companion. Dallas came to us after a suspected hit-by-car incident, which resulted in a nerve injury to his right front leg. Because of this, he has limited use of that limb and will likely not regain full function. He gets around well on his own but may need some extra accommodations to help keep him comfortable and safe. Dallas doesnât let his injury define him, heâs still a happy, social dog who just wants a cozy place to relax and people to love. He would do best in a home that can provide a safe environment and a little extra care to support his mobility needs. If youâre looking for a kind-hearted dog who will reward you with endless affection, Dallas may be your perfect match.

Overview:
The Plott Hound is a rugged, intelligent breed originating from the mountains of North Carolina, primarily bred for hunting large game like bear and wild boar. Known for their striking brindle coat, which can range from light tan to dark black, they are a medium-to-large dog with a muscular build, powerful legs, and a distinctive deep, resonant bay. Temperamentally, Plotts are loyal, courageous, and generally good-natured, displaying an affectionate side with their families. While they can be excellent companions for active families, their high energy levels and strong prey drive mean they require considerable exercise and secure containment. They are generally not well-suited for apartment living due to their need for space and propensity to vocalize. Health-wise, Plotts are a relatively hardy breed, though like many large dogs, they can be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, bloat, and eye conditions. Regular veterinary check-ups and a balanced diet are crucial for maintaining their well-being.
