He is confident charming, highly intelligent and very in tune with people's emotions. All a great mixture for a trueman's best friend. If you know anything about Shepherds, their genes are strong! So while Max may be a Shepherd mix, he has all the best qualities of a German Shepherd. But with that comes the nerves as well. Like most working breeds, Max needs something to keep his mind busy and working.” He loves to stay busy, whether that’s with enrichment toys, playing in the yard or just playing with people. He walks well on a leash and REALLY likes kids! But they do make him overly excited and he hasn’t quite learned how to not jump up on them. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
