Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd. Age: 1 year old Breed: Shepherd mix Sex: Female, Spayed Weight: 38 pounds About: Oh Ruby, this sweet girl just needs a place to finally call her own. Originally brought in as an owner surrender at only 3 months old, she was too much for the family. She was adopted out quickly and was very much loved by her family. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen family health circumstances, the family had to bring her back. Neither of these was poor Ruby’s fault and she is so lost and confused as to why she doesn’t have a family. The shelter is the longest place Ruby has ever known. It is so hard for a pup to grow up being bounced around. It is even more that the only people she has been able to count on are our shelter staff members. Even though her start was rocky, she remains optimistic and still loves with everything she has. She walks great on a leash and likes other dogs and kids. Ruby needs stability, someone who is going to love her unconditionally and someone who isn’t going to give up on her. She needs security and a family she knows she can depend on. Adoption Fee: $300.00 Transport: 100.00

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
