He and his siblings were placed in a box at a rummage sale and being given away for free. Situations like that are scary—there’s no way to know where these puppies might end up or what their future might look like. So we stepped in to make sure Buck would get the safe, loving start he truly deserves. Right now, Buck is still figuring out the world. He is very shy and pretty shut down, and it’s clear he hasn’t had much guidance or socialization yet. New things can feel overwhelming for him, and he’s going to need a patient, understanding home that’s willing to go at his pace. Buck is essentially starting from scratch. He’ll need help with everything—confidence building, potty training, kennel training, learning manners, and just discovering what it means to be a loved family dog. While that may sound like a lot, it also means you get to be the one who shows him how good life can be. And there is something incredibly special about earning the trust of a dog like Buck. With time, consistency, and love, we know Buck has the potential to blossom into an amazing companion. He just needs someone willing to see past the fear and invest in his future. If you’re looking for a project dog with a huge heart underneath it all—and you’re ready to commit to the journey—Buck might just be your guy. Our Pack Animal Rescue, Inc. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
