Here's Your Quick Peek: Layla is from a backyard breeder, and it has left its mark on her. She is a sweet but girl but she does not trust easily. She will take time and patience to come around. Please note - if you want to skip the text and go straight to the application, you can find the link here: .carolinapoodlerescue/application/ Must have: Another dog, a family with rescue dog experience, fenced in yard, time and patience a family that is home more often than not. Exercise: Layla is very playful and loves to run around and play with other dogs. Best with: Other dogs, gentle slow approach from the side, calm quiet environment Not ideal for: Families with children, first time dog owners, families with other nervous or skittish dogs. Energy level: High once she breaks the ice. We want to be honest. Layla may always be a nervous dog. She's got a sensitive stomach we are still figuring out, and she has a long road until she is a "normal" dog. And she maybe never be the idea of a "normal house pet." But she is sweet and she is trying. She needs a family with another dog and experience with dogs like her. Good with dogs: Yes, a must in her life. Good with kids: We would not recommend Layla to a family with children. Cats: Layla has never lived with cats. If you have them, let us know and we can test her. Fun fact: Layla came into our rescue with a golden retriever friend that she LOVED! So, she loves goldens! Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Overview:
The Standard Poodle is a captivating and highly intelligent breed with a rich history, believed to have originated in Germany as a water retriever before being refined in France. Renowned for their distinctive, dense, and curly coat—which is virtually non-shedding, making them a great choice for allergy sufferers—they are elegant and athletic dogs. Physically, they possess a proud carriage, a long muzzle, and dark, expressive eyes, typically weighing between 45-70 pounds. Their temperament is characterized by being highly intelligent, easily trainable, and generally good-natured, though they require mental stimulation to prevent boredom. Standard Poodles are surprisingly adaptable, thriving in active families and even adapting well to apartment living provided they receive adequate exercise and mental engagement. While generally healthy, owners should be aware of potential health concerns like hip dysplasia, bloat, and eye conditions. Their combination of brains, beauty, and biddability makes them a truly versatile and rewarding companion.
