Yes Want To Know More About Me? Text FRITZ to 864-441-9075 for an application. Or skip the text and go here: .carolinapoodlerescue/application Here's Your Quick Peek: Fritz is a toy poodle whose breeding days are long behind him - and now he’s fully embracing life with big, playful energy. He’s an incredibly fun, active boy who loves other dogs and would do best with a playful companion to match his enthusiasm. Please note - if you want to skip the text and go straight to the application, you can find the link here: .carolinapoodlerescue/application/ Must have: Another dog and an active family. Fritz is young and eager and ready to go. Exercise: Medium. Leash walking is new, but Fritz is up for the learning adventure. Fritz does have luxating patellas in both rear legs. His gait does not appear to be compromised. Our veterinarian has noted that given his size and age, surgery is optional. We are electing not to repair. He may require surgery in the future; his owners will understand and be prepared for this. Best with: Really anyone once he warms up. Not ideal for: Shared walls. Fritz likes to vocalize and tell you all about his day. No apartments or town homes for this boy! Energy level: High! Fritz loves to run and play. Fritz can be a little nervous at first but does well with handling, and once he settles in, his goofy, vocal personality really shines. He’ll thrive in a standalone home (no apartments or townhomes) where he has space to play and a family ready to keep up with him. Good with dogs: Definitely - he loves them and needs a playmate. Good with kids: Fritz has never lived with kids, but we think he'd love them once he settles in Cats: Unknown - if you have them, let us know and we'll test him. He's never lived with cats before. Fun fact: Fritz's caregivers describe him as our resident silly boy. He loves to play, loves his friends, and loves to tell you all about it. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Breed overview
Poodle (Toy)
A.K.A.: Caniche Miniatura, Dwarf Poodle, Miniature Poodle, Pudel Zwerg, Kleinpuddel
Overview:
The Toy Poodle is a captivating and intelligent breed, originating in Germany as a water retriever before being miniaturized in France. Physically, they are known for their distinctive, dense, and curly single-layer coat, which is virtually non-shedding, making them a popular choice for individuals with allergies. They possess an elegant, well-proportioned build, bright, dark eyes, and a proud, confident gait. In terms of temperament, Toy Poodles are remarkably smart, alert, and highly trainable, eager to please their owners. They thrive on companionship and mental stimulation, often excelling in canine sports like obedience and agility. Their adaptable nature makes them well-suited for various living situations, including apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise and mental engagement. They are generally good with respectful children and can integrate well into families. While generally robust, like many purebreds, they can be predisposed to certain health conditions such as patellar luxation, progressive retinal atrophy, and Addison's disease, highlighting the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
