Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. To complete an adoption application, click here: /forms/form?formid=5879 Claudia is a 3–4 month old mixed-breed pup with a gentle, easygoing charm. At around 15 pounds now, she’s expected to grow into a medium-to-large dog—just the right size for both adventures and couch snuggles. She has a sweet, playful nature but also knows how to slow things down and soak up some quiet cuddle time. She’s brand new to life outside the shelter and is taking it all in stride. Like any young puppy, she’s learning the basics—things like routines, crate time, and all the little skills that come with growing up in a home. So far, she’s adjusting nicely and showing a lot of potential as she settles into her foster environment. Claudia is currently living with other dogs and cats and has been doing well sharing her space. She’d do best in a home ready for all the fun (and learning!) that comes with a young puppy, and she’s sure to bring a lot of warmth and personality wherever she lands. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
