Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Bolder is a handsome, medium energy boy whoâs ready to find a fresh start. After coming to us as a stray, we were able to contact his previous owner who made the difficult decision to surrender him to us because they could no longer afford his care. She had raised Bolder since he was a puppy and shared that heâs done well with kids in the past. Bolder walks pretty well on a leash and enjoys getting out to explore. He may already be potty trained, too! One of his favorite games seems to be âkeep awayâ - when heâs loose in the yard and you get close, heâll dart away with a goofy smile like heâs trying to convince you not to end the fun too soon. He already knows how to sit on command, and may have had some practice laying on command too. Bolder is affectionate and enjoys calmly soaking up all the pets youâre willing to give â heâll sneak in a kiss or two of his own as well. Heâs playful, loving, and has such a fun personality. Bolder is hoping someone will give him the second chance at love he deserves.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
