Description
Dog Breed: Husky (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 250.00. Keya is a sweet girl that is the perfect age since she enjoys long walks and enjoying the sunshine outside, but she is equally content to hang out with you inside if you are having a lazy day. She can be a typical husky escape artist, so she should be on a leash at all times when outside. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. She is available forfoster at the Pet Pantry's second facility in Lancaster until she is ready to be placed up for adoption. If you think she may be the perfect match for your family please fill out a foster application! Applications are available online at petpantrylc. From there, our foster and adoption coordinator will be in touch!

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
