Description
Dog Breed: Australian Shepherd. Adoption Fee: 620. Meet Aspen 5 month old Female Australian Shepherd puppy • 30 pounds Aspen is a happy, playful girl with a fun-loving personality and a heart full of affection. Like a typical Aussie puppy, she is smart, curious, energetic, and always ready for her next adventure. She loves exploring the outdoors, playing with toys, and being involved in whatever her people are doing. As a herding breed, Aspen is incredibly intelligent and active. Australian Shepherds thrive when they have both physical exercise and mental stimulation, so she is looking for a home that can keep up with her adventurous spirit and continue her training. Hiking, walks, playtime, training games, and outdoor activities are right up her alley! One of Aspen’s favorite things? Water! She absolutely loves to swim and splash around, making her the perfect buddy for beach days, lake trips, or backyard pool fun. This sweet girl gets along great with other dogs of all sizes, enjoys meeting new people, and would thrive in a very active home that can continue helping her learn, grow, and burn off puppy energy. Aspen is eager to please and already showing how intelligent and trainable she is. She would make an amazing companion for an active outdoor family. ✔️ Spayed ✔️ Up-to-date on shots ✔️ Microchipped ✔️ Ready to go home ✔️ Older kids are a PLUS ✔️ Gets along with cats ✔️ Loves car rides ✔️ Loves swimming ✔️ Smart & eager to learn ✔️ Affectionate and cuddly Aspen is almost fully crate trained and is doing very well for her age! Since she’s still a young puppy, she does need frequent potty breaks about every two hours during the day and may still have an occasional accident here and there. She sleeps wonderfully through the night inside the house without a crate and does not make messes overnight. She also does great being left out of a crate and settles nicely in the home. With patience, consistency, and love, Aspen is going to blossom into an incredible dog. She loves attention, cuddles, and being close to her humans. Whether she’s playing in the yard, swimming, going for adventures, or curling up after a busy day, Aspen is sure to steal your heart. Overview:
The Australian Shepherd, despite its name, actually originated in the western United States during the 19th century, bred primarily for herding livestock on ranches. These striking dogs are medium-sized with a sturdy build, often sporting captivating merle coats (blue or red) and piercing blue, amber, or marbled eyes, sometimes with two different colors (heterochromia). Known for their exceptional intelligence and high energy, Aussies possess a strong work drive and thrive on having a "job" to do, whether it's agility, obedience, or extensive exercise. Their temperament is generally loyal, affectionate, and good-natured with their families, though they can be reserved with strangers. Due to their high exercise requirements and need for mental stimulation, they are best suited for active families or individuals with ample outdoor space and a commitment to training; apartment living is generally not ideal. Potential owners should also be aware of common health concerns like hip and elbow dysplasia and certain eye conditions, including Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA).
