Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). **Now through May 16th--Diesel's adoption fee is only $40. Meet Diesel At just 1 year old, Diesel is a big-hearted boy with an even bigger personality! This handsome guy came to us as a stray, so we donât know much about his past, but we do know heâs ready for a fresh start filled with love. Diesel arrived with injuries believed to be from an embedded collar, but heâs already healing up beautifully and feeling better every day. Despite everything heâs been through, he hasnât let it dull his spirit â heâs still full of energy, love, and excitement for life.This strong boy will need someone willing to continue working on his leash manners and help him learn that not everyone is prepared for surprise hugs and kisses from a dog his size! Diesel absolutely adores affection and thinks heâs a lap dog at heart.If youâre looking for a goofy, loving, energetic best friend who will keep you laughing and shower you with love, Diesel may be your perfect match. Come meet Diesel and give this sweet boy the second chance he deserves! Currently--75 lbs -Dogs,cats,kids are unknown at this time. If you are interested in meeting Diesel, please visit the shelter during open adoption hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 AMâ12:30 PM & 2 PMâ4 PM Thursday: 10 AMâ12:30 PM & 2 PMâ6:30 PM Saturday: 9 AMâ1 PM If you do not own your home, please bring written consent from the property owner allowing a dog on the property. If you have another dog at home, please plan to bring them for a meet-and-greet before completing the adoption. Adoption fees: 6 months and younger: $250 7 monthsâ5 years: $200 6â10 years: $150 11 years and older: $100 Watch for adoption specials! Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
