Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). Meet our newest puppy mill mama rescue, Sheela! Sheela is 6 years old and is finally getting her chance at freedom. After spending her years having litters, she’s now being released from breeding as her owner is downsizing, and we were contacted and asked to take her. We are hoping to find her a loving foster home as soon as possible. Sheela is an easygoing, gentle girl with a sweet temperament. She does well with male dogs and has been around children over 8 years old. Right now, we are urgently searching for a foster willing to give Sheela a safe and comfortable place to land while she begins this transition. We truly don’t want her to remain where she is any longer, and would love to show her the care and compassion she deserves. If you can foster, even temporarily, please reach out. It would mean the world to this girl. .chboxerrescue/adopt Available in the Northeast (NY, NJ, CT, RI, VT, PA, DE, MD, NoVA)

Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
