Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Manny is a Pit Bull mix who needs a new home with the right person. He was my daughter's constant companion, sadly she passed away, Manny needs to find a new home. This is a difficult decision for me and I want to find someone who can give him the time, structure and attention he deserves. He is of medium size but very strong, too strong for me, he would do well with someone who wants an active companion. He has had some training, my daughter was working with him before she became ill. He would benefit from a refresher course. He needs to be in a home where he is the only pet. He does pull on the leash and does reactively bark at other animals, so training and consistency will help him succeed. He does get nervous when his environment becomes chaotic so a quiet home with adults would be best. He is very sweet and loving to people, he needs someone who is calm and loving. He is up to date with all his shots and I have all his medical history. We are currently located in Rochester NY but after May 24th we will be at my home in Connecticut. **** Breed: Pit bull mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2197520&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
