Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Bauer! This sweet boy has SO much love to give. There’s not a single thought behind those sweet eyes except “Oh my gosh, that’s my person and I love them!” He’s very trainable and eager to please. Sometimes he can be so eager he forgets about personal space… but it all comes from a good place. He follows the lead of other dogs really well and would likely do great with a confident dog buddy to help show him the ropes. He LOVES spending time outside, whether it’s running around or playing fetch. While his favorite indoor hobby might be snuggling, his second favorite is rearranging. He’s got a real talent for moving things from one place to another (typically just moving, not chewing), so we’re pretty sure he has a future as an interior designer. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate dog who will keep you laughing and love you endlessly, he’s your guy. He is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, current with all vaccines (as appropriate for his age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Bauer is currently being fostered in South Carolina. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
