Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Ranger is a lovable, intelligent dog who loves to play fetch just as much as he loves shoving his head into your hands for pets. He loves meeting new people and getting all the love by getting in your business. He is a glutton for comfort - couches, dog beds, blankets, anything comfy cozy he can lounge on, but sometimes he gets a little excited and can't help but nibble on them. He learns commands very quickly, and he's a pro at sit, down, and touch (nose boop to an open palm). Ranger LOVES fetch!! He will be locked onto the ball for hours if you can last as long as him. He would love to keep playing even after he's heaving and panting from running back and forth for so long. Ranger has a high prey drive, and he's done a very... good job of catching squirrels, rabbits, and birds in the backyard. His recall isn't the greatest, but hey if you have a ball or a treat in your hand, he's much more inclined to be right by your feet. Ranger struggles with big feelings when it comes to stranger dogs and barrier anxiety. He is reactive to other dogs that are behind a barrier, such as when he is in the backyard and there is another dog walking in front of the house. Or when he is taken on a walk and there is another dog being walked across the street. If there is a dog in its own backyard while he is walking by, he doesn't pay them any mind. He lives with a cat and another dog, and while might need supervision with the cat in case he roughhouses too hard, he is pretty good around her. He plays just fine with the other dog, but Ranger is much more active and playful. Ranger has not been around children before. Ranger is SUPER food motivated!! Treats, peanut butter, medicine, kibble, anything that looks like food and might be for him, you have his whole attention on you. He'll even lay down in hopes that's good enough to get some of what you're having. He is crate trained, and has no issues with being left alone for a couple hours. Ranger loves walks and sniffing everything in sight, but might get a little distracted if there's another dog around being walked as well. He's very quick to learn, and if you have some yummy treats in your pocket while you walk, you've got his attention. Ranger is in need of a loving home who can help him be active and also give him all the love in the world. He would love to cuddle his way into your heart and give you his tummy for rubs. **** Breed: Hound Husky Mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2197638&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
