Austin absolutely loves spending time with other dogs and gets along great with pups of all sizes. Whether it’s zoomies in the yard, wrestling with friends, or simply hanging out with the pack, Austin is happiest with canine companions nearby. When playtime is over, Austin is just as happy soaking up attention and being part of the family. With a loving personality and playful spirit, he is ready to bring joy, laughter, and lots of fun to a furever home. He and his litter mates are on track to grow into XL adults, so we’re looking for an adopter comfortable with giant-breed pups. If you’re searching for a social, friendly dog who loves everyone they meet, Austin could be your perfect match! He will thrive with an adopter who has experience with large or giant-breed dogs and is committed to training while he is still a puppy and eager to learn. Important Adoption Note: Because Austin is expected to grow into a very large adult dog, we are only accepting applications from current homeowners for him. This is not a standard requirement for our rescue, and renters are absolutely welcome to apply for our other dogs. For this litter specifically, we want to avoid potential issues with breed/weight restrictions or lease limitations as they grow. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
