Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Golden Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). fluffy cloud ISO happily ever after! MILLS NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Mills Best Guess for Breed: Lab and golden retriever mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year 3 months as of May 2026 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 33 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: Puerto Rico shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here! Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure they can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. Mills is Looking For: His forever home! He hails all the way from Puerto Rico - island life was great and balmy and all that but well, there's a big world out there and he wants to see it! So he's seeking his humans in the DC area and he has a wish list - sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up, please! Making pup pals would be great too. (And getting pup cups too!). And going to dog school. (And getting brushed out regularly - his fluffy coat needs it!) Most of all, though, he wants to know where he belongs, to be safe and loved. In exchange he promises love and loyalty for all his days. What do you say? Is Mills the one for your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has spent time in foster care. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. Breed overview
Overview:
The Golden Labrador, a delightful hybrid often referred to as a Goldador, is a popular cross between the Golden Retriever and the Labrador Retriever. Originating from designer breeding programs, these intelligent dogs inherit the best traits from both beloved parent breeds. Physically, they are medium to large-sized with a muscular build, typically sporting a dense, water-repellent coat in shades of gold, yellow, or cream. Their temperament is exceptionally friendly, loyal, and eager to please, making them outstanding family pets that get along well with children and other animals. While adaptable, their energy levels necessitate regular exercise, making a house with a yard preferable over strict apartment living. Though generally healthy, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, common in both parent breeds, and certain eye conditions. Overall, the Golden Labrador offers a wonderful blend of intelligence, affection, and trainability, making them a fantastic companion for active families.
