Description
Dog Breed: Flat-coated Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Bart! Bart is a 3-year-old Flat-Coated Retriever (62 lbs) who is up to date on all vaccines and currently working on building confidence through training. He has a sensitive nature and can be unsure of new people at first, so slow, structured introductions are essential for him to feel safe. While he does well with dogs, we are looking for a home where he will be your only puppy love. Because of this, Bart is looking for an adopter who is committed to participating in training sessions before bringing him home, so he can build trust gradually. His trainers will also support the transition to set both Bart and his adopter up for success. Bart would do best in a calm, low traffic, adult-only home with no kids. Once he feels comfortable, Bart is incredibly loyal and forms a strong bond with his person. With patience, consistency, and continued training, he will make a deeply rewarding companion. Bart can’t wait to meet you! He is waiting in boarding for his perfect forever home. He is neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
