Description
Dog Breed: Terrier. Currently located at our Evansville, IN location Meet Mortica Mortica is a mixed-breed beauty born in November 2024, and she’s ready to find a home that matches her energy and spirit! This active girl loves nothing more than getting out for long walks or runs, and she walks like a pro on a leash. Mortica would do best as the only animal in the home, where she can soak up all the attention. That said, she does enjoy playing with other dogs and would thrive with regular doggy playdates to keep her social side happy! She’s best suited for a home with older children and is already off to a great start with training—she knows “sit” and is very treat motivated, making her eager to learn even more. If you’re looking for a fun, active companion who will keep you moving and be your loyal sidekick, Mortica might be your perfect match. Apply at ITVrescue All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated if necessary.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
