Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 250.00. Coco is an approximately five-month-old bundle of energy and love. She adores playing with larger dogs and has never met a stranger—greeting everyone she encounters with happy kisses. Coco is also a total cuddle bug who loves to be held like a baby and enjoys snuggling close with her human and canine foster siblings. As a young puppy, she is still learning the ins and outs of home life and remains curious about the world around her. She enjoys lounging on the couch, sleeping in bed with her foster family, and does great on car rides. Coco is also making excellent progress with potty training. Coco would thrive in a home with children and other dogs, but she would also do well with a single adult who is ready to give her the love and attention she craves. More than anything, Coco wants to belong—she is happiest when she’s part of a family and surrounded by love.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
