Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed. Meet Jelly! This 10-week-old, 8-pound cutie is believed to be a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix with a big personality packed into a tiny body though her nose is always on the ground when she's outside, so she might have some beagle genes in her make-up. Jelly is a sweet, affectionate puppy who loves attention and wants nothing more than to be near her people. Like any young puppy, Jelly is still learning the ropes but does wonderful in the crate and has only had a couple accidents in her foster home. She is in a foster home with Honey and is the dominate one of the two, always urging Honey to play with her when Honey just wants to nap. She’s smart, eager to please, and making great progress with consistency and patience. Jelly enjoys playtime, cuddles, and exploring the world around her. She would thrive in a home ready for all the fun (and puppy antics!) that come with raising a young pup. With continued training, structure, and love, Jelly is sure to grow into a loyal and loving companion. If you’re looking for a best friend with a huge heart, Jelly may be the perfect match for you! She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and will be available for adoption starting 5/17/26 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL# 16182.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Chiweenie, an adorable and increasingly popular designer breed, is a delightful cross between the spirited Chihuahua and the charming Dachshund. Originating in the United States, these small companions inherited a unique blend of traits from their parent breeds. Physically, they typically possess a long, low body reminiscent of the Dachshund, combined with the often-large ears and expressive eyes of the Chihuahua. Their coats can vary widely in color and texture, from short and smooth to long and wiry. Temperamentally, Chiweenies are known for being loyal, affectionate, and surprisingly energetic. They often exhibit a playful and sometimes stubborn streak, making early socialization and training beneficial. Their small size makes them well-suited for apartment living and families with older children or individuals seeking a devoted lapdog. While generally robust, potential health considerations include issues common to their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation and intervertebral disc disease, making regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term well-being.
