Description
Dog Breed: Poodle (Toy) (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 350. Meet Mr Boots! At 10.5 years young and just 11 pounds, this phantom poodle proves that the best things come in small packages. He may be a senior, but he’s still quick on his feet and loves to keep up with his people - especially if it means being close to you. This sweet boy has a big personality and an even bigger heart. He can be a little shy at first, but give him a bit of time and patience, and you’ll see his true self shine—a loving, affectionate companion who wants to be close. As a former dad, he carries a gentle nature and is happiest when he’s by your side, soaking up all the pets he can get. He gets along well with other dogs and would do great in a home with a canine companion, or as your one-and-only little shadow. He is house-trained, though, like many dogs in a new environment, he may need a little time and consistency to settle into a routine. His energy level is easygoing - he enjoys short bursts of activity but is just as happy lounging nearby, keeping you company. He’s low-maintenance, loving, and simply wants a home where he can be cherished. If you’re looking for a loyal, snuggly companion who just needs a little time to blossom, he’s ready to meet you. Please apply at .HavenAnimalRescueNebraska ADOPTION DONATION: $300 *ALL DOGS MUST BE INSIDE COMPANION ANIMALS! Breed overview
Poodle (Toy)
A.K.A.: Caniche Miniatura, Dwarf Poodle, Miniature Poodle, Pudel Zwerg, Kleinpuddel
Overview:
The Toy Poodle is a captivating and intelligent breed, originating in Germany as a water retriever before being miniaturized in France. Physically, they are known for their distinctive, dense, and curly single-layer coat, which is virtually non-shedding, making them a popular choice for individuals with allergies. They possess an elegant, well-proportioned build, bright, dark eyes, and a proud, confident gait. In terms of temperament, Toy Poodles are remarkably smart, alert, and highly trainable, eager to please their owners. They thrive on companionship and mental stimulation, often excelling in canine sports like obedience and agility. Their adaptable nature makes them well-suited for various living situations, including apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise and mental engagement. They are generally good with respectful children and can integrate well into families. While generally robust, like many purebreds, they can be predisposed to certain health conditions such as patellar luxation, progressive retinal atrophy, and Addison's disease, highlighting the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
