Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Meet our delightful Tootie a 7 pound beauty that will be your sweetest shadow! While shy and timid at first in new situations due to her past, Tootie does relax and sticks to her person like velcro. This precious little girl came into rescue not well socialized so she's hard at work learning so many new and exciting things about life and is doing great in a short time! So if you are looking for a curled up mini doughnut to snuggle on your lap, she's your Girl!! Tootie is potty trained and is doing well on crate training as she will happily lay down in it with the door open already. She also gets along with other dogs and even cats, too! Tootie is currently living with two other small breed dogs and several cats. While not very active, she does like to spend time outside with her person. While she is now used to having her leash attached, some coaxing is needed for walking but she will get theref. Due to her shy and timid nature (she has the nervous shakes), young children are not suggested for her and she does need a fenced in yard. This loving little sweetheart just wants to held, loved, petted and kissed. She will even kiss you back ADOPTION DONATION: $375 *ALL DOGS MUST BE INSIDE COMPANION ANIMALS! They must all be trained with positive reward based training and all are up to date with vaccinations, altered, microchipped, HeartWorm tested, and on preventatives. Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
