Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Winston is a scruffy 10 year old gentleman looking for a soft place to land. He’s timid at first, quiet, and perfectly content spending most of his day napping nearby while keeping an eye on his people. Wherever you go, Winston is sure to follow - complete with his adorable little prance and occasional dance moves. This distinguished guy has simple tastes: soft beds, soft treats (freeze dried treats count too), short strolls around the block, and absolutely no shenanigans. He’s been a very good boy with other dogs and with new people, taking the world in with calm curiosity. Winston asks for very little besides kindness, patience, and a cozy home to call his own. If you’re looking for a low-key companion who will quietly steal your heart, Winston may just be your perfect match. Winston can be "officially" adopted once his neuter and dental appointments are complete (they're already booked!) but that won't stop him from joining your family in the mean time! Does Winston sound like a perfect addition to your home? Applying is the first step to meet him - APPLICATION (See our Dog Adoption FAQs before applying)

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
