Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Meet Kira — a beautiful 1-year-old Belgian Malinois looking for a soft place to land. Kira was surrendered to the shelter through no fault of her own. Like many mals, she ended up in a home that simply wasn’t prepared for the energy, enrichment, and commitment this incredible breed needs. Her previous owner realized they couldn’t meet those needs and made the difficult decision to surrender her. Now, Kira is waiting in the shelter for someone willing to give her a chance. About Kira: • Smart – this girl is eager to learn and thrives when given direction • Affectionate – she loves her people and wants to be close to them • Eager to please – Kira is the kind of dog who wants to work with you At just one year old, Kira has so much potential. What she needs most right now is a soft landing — a foster home where she can decompress, feel safe, and start to understand that life can be stable again. Shelter life is hard on young, intelligent dogs like Kira. A foster home could make all the difference in helping her thrive while she waits for her next chapter. If you’ve been considering fostering or know someone experienced with high-drive breeds who could help, please reach out. Let’s get this sweet girl out of the shelter and into a home where she can exhale. All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and 6 month subscription. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
