Description
Dog Breed: Dutch Shepherd. Meet Buttons – The Girl Who Never Gave Up on Love Some dogs leave paw prints on your heart. Buttons is one of those dogs. After being rescued from a high-kill shelter, Buttons thought she had found her forever family. She spent nearly two years in a home before finding herself back in a shelter through no fault of her own. Yet despite the heartbreak she’s endured, Buttons continues to greet the world with hope, love, and a wagging tail. At around 4 years old, this gorgeous Dutch Shepherd mix is the perfect blend of playful and affectionate. She still has that giant puppy energy when it's time to run and play, but she's just as happy curling up beside you and soaking up all the love you have to give. The moment you start petting her, she'll happily melt into a puddle of pure happiness. Buttons is a lower-drive girl who simply wants to be near her people. She’s goofy, expressive, and wonderfully chatty, always ready to make you laugh with her big personality and adorable antics. And when dinner time rolls around? She approaches every meal with the enthusiasm of someone who's just won the lottery. She would likely thrive as the only dog in the home or with a compatible male dog, where she can truly shine and be cherished for the amazing dog she is. What Buttons wants most isn't a big yard, fancy toys, or endless adventures. She wants a family. A family that will choose her. A family that will keep choosing her. A family that will never let her wonder where she belongs again. If you're looking for a loyal companion, a cuddle buddy, a shadow, and a best friend who will love you with her whole heart, Buttons is waiting. Could you be the happy ending she's been searching for? All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and 6 month subscription. Breed overview
Holland Shepherd
A.K.A.: Dutch Shepherd, Dutchie, Hollandse Herder, Herder
Overview:
The Hollandse Herdershond, or Dutch Shepherd, is a versatile and intelligent breed originating from the Netherlands, where they were traditionally used by shepherds and farmers for herding and guarding livestock. Physically, they are a medium-sized dog with a powerful, muscular build, typically weighing between 50-70 pounds and standing 21-25 inches tall. Their coats come in three varieties: short-haired, long-haired, and wire-haired, all displaying the breed's distinctive brindle pattern in shades of gold or silver. Temperamentally, Dutch Shepherds are known for their strong work ethic, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to their families. They are highly trainable and excel in various dog sports like obedience, agility, and protection work. While generally good with children, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them better suited for active families with experience in dog ownership, rather than first-time owners or those in apartment settings. Like many active breeds, they can be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term health.
