Description
Dog Breed: Dutch Shepherd. This beautiful girl has had more than her fair share of heartbreak. After being pulled from a high-kill shelter, she was adopted and spent nearly two years in a home before ending up back at the shelter through absolutely no fault of her own. Despite everything she’s been through, Buttons still loves with her whole heart. At around four years old, she’s basically a giant puppy — playful, goofy, and happiest when she’s zooming around the yard or melting into a puddle the second you pet her. She has a lower drive, enjoys being near her people, and is more interested in soaking up affection than causing chaos. Buttons does like to be the queen of her castle, so she’d likely do best with male dogs or as the center of attention herself. She’s expressive, talkative, and loves using her goofy personality to get your attention. And when it comes to mealtime… she takes dinner very seriously. Honestly, can you blame her? More than anything, Buttons just wants a person to call her own — someone who will love her forever this time. She’s ready to be your loyal best friend, cuddle buddy, and constant shadow. Now all she needs is her happy ending. All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and 6 month subscription. Breed overview
Holland Shepherd
A.K.A.: Dutch Shepherd, Dutchie, Hollandse Herder, Herder
Overview:
The Hollandse Herdershond, or Dutch Shepherd, is a versatile and intelligent breed originating from the Netherlands, where they were traditionally used by shepherds and farmers for herding and guarding livestock. Physically, they are a medium-sized dog with a powerful, muscular build, typically weighing between 50-70 pounds and standing 21-25 inches tall. Their coats come in three varieties: short-haired, long-haired, and wire-haired, all displaying the breed's distinctive brindle pattern in shades of gold or silver. Temperamentally, Dutch Shepherds are known for their strong work ethic, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to their families. They are highly trainable and excel in various dog sports like obedience, agility, and protection work. While generally good with children, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them better suited for active families with experience in dog ownership, rather than first-time owners or those in apartment settings. Like many active breeds, they can be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term health.
