Barbie is a 4-year-old large sized (55 pounds) mixed breed with a short tan coat and a playful personality that is impossible not to love. This beautiful girl is full of charm, energy, and affection, and she is ready to find a forever family to share adventures with. Barbie has a medium energy level and loves spending time outdoors. Whether she is going for walks, exploring the yard, or chasing after her favorite tennis ball, Barbie is happiest when she is active and having fun. She has done well with other dogs and children, making her a wonderful fit for an active family home. Barbie has not yet met a cat, so her relationship with cats is unknown at this time. Her playful spirit and loving personality make her a joy to be around. Her house training, crate, and leash training is in progress. Although many dogs become reliable with house training, accidents can still occur while adjusting to a new home environment. Barbie would thrive in a home that offers patience, consistency, exercise, positive training, and lots of playtime, especially if tennis balls are involved. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
