Dog Breed: Boston Terrier (short coat). Welcome Back, Sir Charles Some dogs leave a pawprint on your heart forever — and Sir Charles is one of them. Charles was originally adopted from Boston Buddies back in 2021 and spent five wonderful years deeply loved by his adoptive family. Unfortunately, due to unexpected life changes, they made the difficult decision to return him to us. As always, Boston Buddies stands by our dogs for life, and we welcomed this distinguished gentleman back with open arms. Since arriving in foster care, Sir Charles has proven himself to be the ultimate house guest. He is calm, affectionate, well-mannered, and incredibly easy to love. His foster family quickly nicknamed him “Sir Charles” because his polite, regal personality truly fits the name. With his unique look and dignified charm, he carries himself like royalty. This handsome gentleman has already been enjoying the good life in foster care — recently participating in the Walk for Animals in San Diego like a true ambassador for senior rescue dogs. He also had his very own professional photo shoot, and let’s just say… Sir Charles absolutely understood the assignment. One of the sweetest things about Charles is his adorable excitement at mealtime — he does a happy little prance that is guaranteed to make you smile every single day. Sir Charles is: • Dog friendly • Potty trained • Knows his basic commands • Wonderful in the home • Calm, loving, and easygoing • Great companion for outings and adventures Charles has been fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and is current on all medical care. He does take a daily supplement to help maintain healthy liver values. He also has a few bald spots on his back from an old kitchen accident in his previous home, but we think they only add to his character and make him even more special. At 10 years old and 30 pounds, Sir Charles is simply looking for a soft place to land and someone to love him through his golden years. He may be a senior, but he still has so much love, companionship, and joy to give. The Boston Terrier, affectionately known as the "American Gentleman," originated in the late 19th century in Boston, Massachusetts, making it one of the few breeds developed in the U.S. Physically, they are compact and muscular, typically weighing between 12 and 25 pounds, with a distinctive "tuxedo" coat pattern—black or brindle with white markings on the muzzle, chest, and often a blaze between the eyes. Their expressive, round eyes and erect, bat-like ears are hallmark features. Temperamentally, Boston Terriers are friendly, intelligent, and lively, known for their charming personalities and unwavering loyalty. They adapt well to various living situations, making them excellent companions for both families with children and individuals in apartments, as long as they receive adequate exercise and mental stimulation. Regarding health, they are a brachycephalic (short-nosed) breed, so care must be taken in hot weather to prevent overheating, and they can be prone to eye conditions and patellar luxation.
