Pepper #2 – Black Female X, 8 yrs, 80 lbs. Meet Pepper — a sweet, loyal girl with a heart as big as her beautiful brown eyes. At 8 years old, she’s left the puppy chaos behind but still has plenty of pep in her step and so much love to give. Pepper absolutely adores people and wants nothing more than to be close to her humans. Whether she’s splashing in the pool, playing fetch, enjoying tummy rubs, or posing politely for treats, she’s happiest simply being loved. She’s a smart girl with good house manners, takes treats gently, and enjoys the simple things in life — especially chicken and rice, apples, and cuddle time. While Pepper has played with dogs her size before, she’s reached the stage in life where she’d really prefer to be your one and only. She wants all the love, attention, and cozy moments to herself. We do not know how she is with cats. Pepper may pull a little on leash at first, but with patience and consistency, she settles in beautifully. She’s the perfect balance of playful and calm — ready for walks, toys, water fun, and then relaxing by your side afterward. Going to the beach? She’s your girl!! Senior black dogs are so often overlooked, but Pepper deserves a family who sees just how special she is. She’s loyal, affectionate, soulful, and ready to spend her golden years being someone’s best friend. If you’d like to know more about Pepper or give this wonderful girl the forever home she deserves, please reach out to .labrescuefresno and ask for Pepper! Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
