Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Tiny Tina is a staff favorite! She is a little shy at first, but is quickly opening up. She does look to other dogs a lot for confidence and would appreciate a canine friend to show her the ropes. She is about a year old and weighs under 23 pounds and is likely done growing. TT can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but she's already making wonderful progress in her foster home and continues to gain confidence every day. One of her favorite sources of reassurance is other dogs, and she looks to them for guidance and comfort. Because of this, she'd love a home with a friendly canine companion who can help show her the ropes and continue helping her blossom. She's doing great with house training and has been accident-free during the day in foster care. She sleeps quietly in her crate through the night and will politely let you know when she's ready for her morning potty break. While the crate isn't her favorite place, she's learned to settle in nicely and would be considered crate trained. TT is still learning that the world isn't such a scary place. Her foster family has been giving her time to decompress before introducing new adventures, and she's just beginning to explore things like walks and car rides. She hasn't quite mastered leash walking yet, so a securely fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus for her future home. Tiny Tina is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm negative, and on monthly flea/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $300 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
