Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Griffy is a charming older gentleman with a sweet demeanor. He loves to follow you from room to room, curl up beside you on the couch, and snooze next to you in bed. Walking on a leash is a breeze for him, he enjoys his walks and a car ride from time to time. Plus, he’s house trained, making him nearly the perfect companion… well, almost. He doesn’t like being left alone at home and will bark if you sneak out or try to keep him in the bedroom while you’re busy with your foster kittens. Speaking of cats, they’re not his favorite. He sees it as his duty to chase them whenever he gets the chance. Because of this, Griffy might not be the best fit for apartment living, especially since he makes his feelings clear when he’s left by himself. Griffy is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on monthly flea/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250 and you can apply to meet him at mpravl. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
