Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Adoption Fee: $550.00. ____________________________________________________________ Daria/Brittany CANDY, CANDY CAIN, CANDY APPLE… or CANDICE! (she answers to all of it) is officially ready for adoption! Some dogs are sweet. Some dogs are chaos. Some dogs are a full-on limited edition seasonal treat that should probably come with a warning label. Candice is… all three. Currently hanging out in OH (transport available—yes, she is worth the mileage), this ~10-month-old former stray-turned-foster-favorite is ready to find her forever home through American Belgian Malinois Rescue . What you need to know about Candice: She arrived around 5 months old as a stray, and has been busy ever since learning that humans are actually just big snack dispensers and emotional support furniture. Her résumé includes: Knows sit, stay, down, shake (currently auditing “recall… occasionally”) Easily redirected (squirrel loses, Candy wins… eventually) Walks nicely on leash like she’s been doing this her whole life Crate trained and polite about it Good with kids (older kids = best match; younger kids = fine but she may enthusiastically forget her own size during zoomies) Dog social superstar — loves playgroups and canine friendships NO CATS. At all. She has opinions and they are loud Obsessed with tug, ball, and inventing her own games Enjoys fruits and veggies like she’s trying to join a wellness influencer program Has a magical OFF SWITCH: from turbo rocket → snuggle puddle in 0.2 seconds Waits politely for meals like a lady (until the food appears, then she remembers she is… not a lady) Loves car rides, outings, and saying “bye-bye” like she’s headed to an important meeting Water enthusiast (sprinklers beware) Will accompany you everywhere… including the bathroom. Privacy is a myth. Candice is the truth. The Candy Experience™ Adopting her means: You will never pee alone again. You will always have a tug opponent. You will have a built-in snack inspector. You will occasionally be bumped over with love by a dog who forgot she is not a baby goat. And then, without warning… she will curl up like a cinnamon roll and fall asleep like she didn’t just commit parkour across your living room. Ideal Home: Someone who wants a young, playful, trainable dog with big personality energy, a love of structure, and a deep commitment to never being alone in a bathroom again. Candy Cain / Candy Apple / CANDICE is ready to graduate from foster life into forever life. If you’re looking for: adventure buddy snuggle thief comedy show with paws and a dog who will absolutely make your life louder, sweeter, and funnier …she’s your girl. (And yes. She knows she’s cute. She uses it strategically.) ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
