Description
Dog Breed: Shiba Inu (medium coat). Meet your future tiny chaos fox (with a heart of gold): This is a Shiba Inu who did NOT read the Shiba manual. Seriously—someone forgot to tell him he’s supposed to be aloof, mysterious, and mildly judgmental. Instead, this guy is basically a velcro marshmallow who is constantly checking in like, “Hi… hello… yes… is this a good time for pets??” He is: Fully house trained (a gentleman). Needed an acclimation period to prevent marking but has full trust in social areas now. An absolute DREAM on a leash (no zig-zag nonsense) A chill co-pilot in the car (windows down = vibes up). Just don’t let him know your lap is an alternate option for the ride! A certified athlete with Olympic-level zoomies This boy has energy for days. We’re talking runs, rollerblading, adventures—he’s ready to be your personal fitness coach whether you asked for one or not. He’s got a few scratches and cuts from his short life on the street, but he seems to be healing up quickly. Socially? Crushed it. He gets along great with our other dogs and knows how to hang. Now let’s address the most important personality trait: He LOVES food. No, that’s not strong enough. He REALLY REALLY LOVES FOOD. If food were a religion, he’d be the high priest. And if he feels under-petted, under-loved, or under-snacked? Oh, he will let you know—with his very own dramatic, soulful, slightly chaotic howling serenade. Think: part wolf, part opera singer, part “excuse me I have concerns.” In summary: Sweet? Yes. Goofy? Extremely. Loyal? Absolutely. Quiet? …let’s circle back to that. If you’re looking for a hilarious, affectionate, high-energy companion who will love you deeply and remind you loudly when you forget to pet him—this is your guy. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $425.00

Overview:
The Shiba Inu, a spirited and ancient breed originating from Japan, is renowned for its fox-like appearance and independent nature. Historically bred for hunting in mountainous regions, they possess a strong, athletic build with a distinctive curly tail and alert, expressive eyes. Their coat is typically short and dense, often displaying striking red, sesame, or black and tan colors, complete with a creamy "urajiro" underside. Temperamentally, Shibas are known for their intelligence, confidence, and sometimes aloof demeanor, yet they form strong bonds with their families. While they can be excellent companions, their strong prey drive and independent streak mean they require consistent training and socialization from a young age. They adapt well to apartment living provided they receive sufficient daily exercise, but a secure yard is always a plus. Generally a healthy breed, they can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, hip dysplasia, and allergies, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups essential. Their unique personality and striking looks make them a captivating choice for experienced dog owners who appreciate a dog with character.
