Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Hi everyone, this is Toby. Toby recently lost his person after my mother in law passed away, and we are hoping to find him a loving home where he can continue to be the incredible dog he is. Toby is estimated to be around 5 to 6 years old. He is potty trained, very sweet, and deeply loyal. During my mother in law’s illness, Toby did something truly remarkable. He alerted me in the middle of the night when she was having a seizure, helping save her life. He is truly a hero and has a special, intuitive heart. Because of the circumstances, we are still learning some things about Toby. We are not sure how he does with other animals, and while he is a wonderful dog, he would benefit from some basic training, especially with leash walking. We are happy to make sure he is fully vaccinated. This is a really hard and emotional situation, and our biggest wish is to place Toby in a home where he will be safe, loved, and given the time and care he deserves. If you or someone you know might be a good fit, please reach out or share this post. There is no rehoming fee. Our priority is simply finding Toby a safe, loving home. **** Breed: St. Bernard/husky mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2197454&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
