DOB 03/13/26 *Current Weight: 15lbs + growing *Rescued from: Texas *Adoption fee: $550 (plus $150 spay/neuter deposit, see below for more information) Meet Dawson of the D Pups! The “D Pups” are proof that sometimes the best things can come from unexpected circumstances. These adorable fluffballs were recently born to a one-year-old mama dog whose family didn’t think she could get pregnant “so young” — a story we unfortunately hear far too often. Now, thanks to the help of our one of trusted rescue partners and a local foster mom in TX who opened her home to them, these lucky pups are getting their chance at a brighter future. Soon Dawson and the D Pups will be ready to make the trip from Texas to New York in search of forever homes of their very own. Full of puppy curiosity, playful energy, and endless affection, these babies are ready to take on the world one adventure at a time. Like all young puppies, they are learning and growing every single day. They’ll need families committed to helping them become the best dogs they can be through training, structure, socialization, patience, and love. Because they are believed to be working-breed mixes, they’re looking for adopters who understand the needs of active, intelligent dogs and are prepared to give them both physical exercise and mental enrichment as they mature. In return? You’ll get a loyal best friend, a constant adventure buddy, and the joy of watching a puppy grow into an incredible lifelong companion. Dawson has his whole life ahead of him — now he just needs a forever family to help write the next chapter. IMPORTANT: This dog has not yet been altered. SNARR requires a $150 deposit in addition to your adoption fee, as well as a strictly enforced Spay/Neuter Contract stating you will have this dog altered within 6 months of adoption. Overview:
The Australian Shepherd, despite its name, actually originated in the western United States during the 19th century, bred primarily for herding livestock on ranches. These striking dogs are medium-sized with a sturdy build, often sporting captivating merle coats (blue or red) and piercing blue, amber, or marbled eyes, sometimes with two different colors (heterochromia). Known for their exceptional intelligence and high energy, Aussies possess a strong work drive and thrive on having a "job" to do, whether it's agility, obedience, or extensive exercise. Their temperament is generally loyal, affectionate, and good-natured with their families, though they can be reserved with strangers. Due to their high exercise requirements and need for mental stimulation, they are best suited for active families or individuals with ample outdoor space and a commitment to training; apartment living is generally not ideal. Potential owners should also be aware of common health concerns like hip and elbow dysplasia and certain eye conditions, including Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA).
