Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Please note that PAHS does NOT do online adoption applications. You must come to the shelter in person to meet the PAHS pets. June is a 4-year-old Pit Bull mix who will need to be spayed before she’s adopted. Found as a stray near a local YMCA with two puppies, it’s clear from her photos she’s had several litters before. This sweet brindle girl with white markings weighs just 35 pounds and already looks much healthier than when she arrived, though she’s still working on gaining weight. Despite her rough past, June has a gentle, loving personality and seems to be housebroken. She adores belly rubs and cuddles. If you’ve ever wanted to truly change a shelter dog’s life, June is your chance—she deserves a loving family to call her own. Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative. *****Please note that PAHS does NOT do online adoption applications. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
