Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (medium coat). From T-Rex to Rex⦠Rex is a chubby little red-haired sweetheart who has come a long way since arriving at the shelter frightened and unsure. When first at the shelter, he was so scared, cowering, shaking, and being reactive, earning the name âT-Rex.â With time, patience, and attention from volunteers, he began to relax and show his affectionate sideâwagging his tail, seeking pets, and charming everyone by pawing the air for treats. After spending time with a wonderful foster parent, Rex has truly blossomed into a different dog. He is no longer the timid little âbeastâ he once seemed to beâjust Rex, a lovable companion ready for a home of his own. ⢠He rides well in the car and settles in easily. ⢠He gets along with all the dogs he has met in his two foster homes. ⢠He loves food of all kinds, including corn on the cob. ⢠He is potty trained and enjoys stopping to âwaterâ plenty of bushes on walks. ⢠He is highly treat-motivated and will happily show off his adorable front-leg wave for attention. ⢠He stays quietly in his crate or in the yard and sleeps through the night. ⢠He walks well on leash and is easy to harness. Rex was initially a little too interested in the cat in his foster home, but corrected well. His foster mom says, âRex has really grown on us. He cracks us up with his goofy nature, especially when he 'sings' for his meal!.â This little guy would make a wonderful companion. To meet Rex, please make an appointment through yoloshelter/dogs or email adoptyoloshelter.

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
