Description
Dog Breed: Dachshund / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). NJ Canela is a happy girl who is now in a NJ foster home. Meet Canela, our adorable low-rider queen with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This young Dutch Hound/Lab mix somehow ended up with the short legs of a Beagle and the beautiful coloring of a yellow Lab—and she's every bit as cute as it sounds. Canela has settled beautifully into her foster home and has quickly become a favorite wherever she goes. Her favorite place is right by your side. She follows her people everywhere and loves being included in whatever you're doing. Whether she's tagging along from room to room, curling up next to you on the couch, or soaking up belly rubs, Canela is happiest when she's close to her family. This sweet girl is incredibly affectionate and has a gentle, loving personality that makes it easy to fall in love with her. She has done wonderfully meeting new people and quickly forms strong bonds with those around her. Canela has also been great with children and loves the attention and affection they provide. Canela is curious, playful, and always ready for an adventure. Like many young dogs, she enjoys walks, playtime, and exploring the world around her. Once she's had some fun and burned off a little energy, she's more than happy to settle down for cuddles and quality time with her people. Canela gets along well with other dogs and would make a wonderful companion for a family looking for a loyal, affectionate, and fun-loving best friend. If you're looking for a dog who will shower you with love and be your constant sidekick, Canela may be the perfect match. Canela is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption donation is $500. - Adopting an animal is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these animals have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Dachsador, a charming crossbreed of the Dachshund and Labrador Retriever, originated from the desire to blend the playful spirit of the Lab with the distinctive build of the Dachshund. Physically, they are incredibly diverse, often displaying the longer body of the Dachshund with the more robust head and sometimes webbed feet of the Labrador. Their coat can vary widely in color and texture, from short and smooth to longer and denser. Temperamentally, Dachsadors are generally friendly, intelligent, and affectionate, making them wonderful companions. They can be good with families, though early socialization is key, and their energy levels mean they thrive with regular exercise. While adaptable, their size can range from medium to large, influencing their suitability for apartment living; a home with a yard is often preferred. Potential health concerns can include those common to their parent breeds, such as back problems (Dachshund) and hip/elbow dysplasia or eye conditions (Labrador), necessitating responsible breeding and veterinary care.
