Tulip Est DOB 4/22/2018 Female Poodle Mix Meet Tulip, a sweet girl who came to us after the commercial breeder she lived in closed down. She never received the care, socialization, or support every dog deserves, but she’s already showing us how much heart she has. Tulip is shy with people, yet she allows gentle handling and will let you pick her up. With patience and kindness, she’s beginning to show curiosity toward the affection she’s getting from our staff and volunteers. Watching her discover that humans can be safe is incredibly rewarding. She is good with other dogs, but we are not totally sure about cats though. She’ll need gentle guidance as she learns about life in a real home — things like housebreaking, normal household noises, and everyday activities such as a dishwasher running or a TV turned on. With time and reassurance, she’ll blossom. At the sanctuary, Tulip is loving her new freedom and the comfort of being with other dogs. She’s sweet, soft‑natured, and has all the potential to become an amazing family member for someone who understands that progress comes in small, beautiful steps. If you’re looking for a tender soul to nurture and celebrate as she grows, Tulip may be the perfect match. * Would do best in a home with no small children Medical Alert: During routine vetting, Tulip was found to be heartworm positive. She is currently receiving medications to slowly kill off the heartworms and is doing very well. Hope Rescues will continue to pay for the medical care associated with the heartworms until she tests negative. Please help us make room to save more homeless pets!!! Adopting from Hope Rescues saves the life of two.. the one you adopt and the one your adoption makes room for. We are a Rescue which means we physically go and save lives. Hope pulls animals on their last day of life from animal control facilities that still use the inhumane gas chamber to put to death homeless pets. Please visit our website at .hoperescues

Overview:

The elegant Maltese is a delightful toy breed renowned for its captivating beauty and charming personality. Originating from the island of Malta, these ancient dogs were once favored companions of European nobility. Physically, they are characterized by their single coat of long, silky, pure white hair that gracefully drapes over a compact, well-proportioned body, typically weighing between 4-7 pounds. Their expressive dark eyes and black button nose add to their adorable appeal. Temperamentally, Maltese are known for being affectionate, playful, and intelligent, making them highly trainable and eager to please. They thrive on human companionship and are generally excellent with children and other pets, provided they are socialized early. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them ideal for apartment living and suitable for families of all types, including first-time dog owners. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of common breed-specific concerns such as dental issues and luxating patellas.
