Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). To adopt or for more information, please visit TaysiaBlue Helloooo! I'm Catalina! If you're an avoidant relationship type, don't apply for me! I want to be your best friend, kiss you, play with you, and invade your personal space! I'm a sweetheart who has been loved every bit of my rescue journey. I was a shelter favorite and everybody along my transport said I was a complete doll. When my foster family picked me up, I gave the kids kisses the moment I got in the car and several times on the way home. I'm excited to meet everyone and do everything! I'm a "plug and play" kind of dog! I will come to you with the basics down, I'll just need some fine-tuning! Someone along the way loved me enough to teach me basic commands, and I'm really good at sit and down. I typically sit for pets and at the door when I want to be let out. If you tell me no, I'm very responsive to redirection and I'm respectful on a leash. I'm quickly learning the rules of the house and haven't had any accidents. I'm crate trained and I go to my kennel for dog dinner time. I've been staying out of the crate at night with no issues. So far I haven't been very food motivated, and I don't beg or steal food even when the kids are eating chimkin nuggies nearby. I'm a really easy-going, trainable type of dog! I wouldn't mind a high energy friend! That said, I have been very respectful of the older dog here who doesn't play much. Sometimes I will go "full play mode" - but if everyone is busy or uninterested I'm happy to go grab a toy and play on my own. I'm currently living with cats and I'd really like to chase them and play like puppies. I've learned their hisses may be followed by a scary swat, so most of the time I leave them alone but I still need reminders. If you have a dog savvy cat and time and patience to teach me I might be able to live with kitties. If all of this hasn't got you scrambling to apply, there's also my looks. GORGEOUS! I'm also very tall. Like a supermodel. I'll be a dream dog for almost any living situation - even an apartment as long as long as I have a chance to get my energies out. If you're dreaming of a girl like me, fill out an application and mention Catalina! To adopt or for more information, please visit TaysiaBlue

Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
