Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. About Me Cinnamon is a sweet, curious pup who loves everyone she meets—people, dogs, and even cats (whether they appreciate the attention or not!). She’s incredibly submissive and always wants the animals and people around her to feel safe and happy. Cinnamon enjoys playing with kids and dogs of all sizes, especially running and playing chase with her large foster siblings. When she’s all tuckered out, she’s happiest curled up for a snuggle with her humans. This smart girl is potty trained and currently working on leash manners and crate training. She’s learning to settle more quickly in her crate, though she may still let you know when she’s unhappy about bedtime. Cinnamon loves exploring new things and is eager to learn, responding well to a firm, gentle redirect. Whether she’s chewing on a stick in the yard, stretching out across her human in the morning, or making new friends, Cinnamon’s loving personality shines through. Cinnamon came from a northern reservation alongside several of her littermates and is now ready to find a forever family to continue helping her grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
