Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua. SWEET & ADORABLE: Approx. 6 years old / Approx. 12 lbs. Hi, I’m Dennis! I came to Mostly Mutts after finding myself at animal control - I’m still not quite sure how I ended up there, but I’m so grateful to be with Mostly Mutts now. I’m a sweet, hopeful pup with my whole future ahead of me, and I can’t wait to meet the person who will make me part of their family. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I came in with a couple of other dogs and I met some dogs at Mostly Mutts, and though I wasn’t quite ready to play, I also didn’t show any aggression, and I was interested in them, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a darling little lap dog who’s as sweet as can be once you get to know me. I can be timid at first so a calm, gentle voice really helps me learn to trust. I was pretty scared during my photo shoot and a little unsure coming out of my kennel, but I warmed up nicely with patience and kindness. The bath experience was new to me, so I held onto the edge of the tub while the nice bather cleaned me up, and I did my best through it all. / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’ command and I look forward to learning more. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs. / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts. / I’ve been having some accidents on the shelter schedule, so I’ll need my new family to help me with my potty manners. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love being held, sitting in laps, and soaking up all the pets I can get. Calm voices and gentle attention help me feel safe and happy, and I’m sure once I’m in my new home, we’ll discover even more things we will enjoy doing together! / I’m not a fan of loud vehicles or being rushed into a relationship - I do best when given a little time to feel comfortable and build trust. And like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’ve just had a dental cleaning and had a few teeth pulled, so my mouth is fresh and healthy again. I’m a darling little guy looking for a loving family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
