Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Meet Mimic! At 2 years old and 45 pounds, Mimic is the perfect blend of fun, brains, and affection. She's the kind of dog who believes every stranger is just a friend she hasn't met yet, and she's always ready to make a new buddy—whether they have two legs or four! She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, lives peacefully with cats, and truly enjoys being part of the action. Mimic has a medium energy level, making her just as happy to join you on an adventure as she is to relax by your side afterward. She's fully house trained, crate trained (although she rarely needs it anymore), and is an excellent passenger on car rides, making her the perfect companion for everything from errands to road trips. This smart girl absolutely loves to learn! She's currently enrolled in both obedience and nose work classes, where she's impressing everyone with how quickly she picks things up. She already knows sit, down, stay, shake, load, circle, and "where," and she's eager to keep adding to her impressive résumé. If you're looking for a dog who enjoys training and building a bond with her person, Mimic is your girl. She walks nicely on leash, though she may need a gentle reminder that squirrels aren't worth chasing. More than anything, Mimic wants to be wherever you are. She's incredibly people-oriented and happiest spending time with her favorite human. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
