Description
Dog Breed: Basset Hound / Beagle / Mixed. A SWEET, FRIENDLY FELLOW: Approx. 7 years old / Approx. 47 lbs. Hi there, I’m John Henry! I was adopted from Mostly Mutts in 2021 and had a wonderful home with a beloved Mostly Mutts volunteer, but sadly she passed away, and we all miss her very much. Thankfully, I’m in a great foster home with someone who knows me well while Mostly Mutts helps me on my journey to finding another loving home, for which I am so very grateful. I came back with another dog that was also adopted from Mostly Mutts, but we do not need to be adopted together – though if you happen to be looking for two sweet dogs, please consider us together. Her name is Delilah. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: My foster reports that I’ve been great with the dogs I’ve met, and I currently live with two other dogs, so if you have a dog already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals, too. / Cats unknown / I lived with kids in the past and my foster reports that I have done very well with kids, too. So, if you have kids 10+, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: In my foster home, I’m described as a friendly, active, sweet, and fun fellow who will make a wonderful family companion. /My energy level is approx. 6-8. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: My foster reports that I’m good with my commands, so let’s work together and see how many I know. They are currently working with me on a little barking – understandable with my recent loss. Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so let’s continue my training together. / I have not needed to be crated. / My potty manners are good in my foster home. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love playing fetch with tennis balls and being active with my family, and belly rubs are definitely high on my favorites list, too! While not required, a fenced yard would be wonderful for all our fun play sessions together. / I’m not a fan of fireworks or being restrained during vetting, and like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I just had a dental cleaning so my mouth is fresh again - and not the talking-back kind of fresh! I am looking for a home where I will be loved as a cherished family member! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Bagle Hound is an endearing crossbreed, a charming blend of the Basset Hound and the Beagle, originating from the desire for a well-rounded companion with the best traits of both parents. Physically, they are typically medium-sized, ranging from 20-45 pounds, boasting the Beagle's alert expression and often the Basset's distinctive long, floppy ears. Their short, dense coat usually comes in a variety of hound colors. Temperamentally, Bagle Hounds are known for being friendly, affectionate, and generally good-natured, making them excellent family pets. They are quite social and enjoy being part of household activities, though their hound heritage means they possess a strong scent drive and can be vocal. While adaptable to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a secure yard is ideal for their curious nature. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns common to their parent breeds, such as ear infections, joint issues, and obesity, emphasizing the importance of a balanced diet and regular veterinary check-ups.
